DURHAM, N.C.— Duke women's basketball and head coach Kara Lawson announced the signing of Autumn Fleary to its 2026 freshman class Wednesday to open the November signing period. Fleary comes to Durham as the 12th-ranked player in the 2026 class.
"I chose Duke because it truly feels like the perfect place for me," said Fleury. "From the moment I stepped on campus, I could feel the energy, the culture and the family atmosphere that makes Duke so special. The sisterhood on this team is real, and it is one of the biggest reasons I knew Duke was where I wanted to be."
A 5-foot-7 point guard from Baltimore, Maryland, Fleary played her high school basketball at Sidwell Friends in Washington, D.C. She is an all-around point guard on both ends of the court, possessing elite defensive ball-pressure skills and the ability to both score and create opportunities for her teammates through high-level passing and ball-handling. This summer, she led her Team Takeover squad to the Nike EYBL Championship while averaging 19.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
Lawson on Fleary
"Ever since I got the job at Duke, I hoped that one day I would sign a point guard from the DMV. It's been a hope of mine. Obviously being from that area, I know the toughness that you have to have and what you have to play with. The competition is high, and Autumn's been an incredible player at the high school level and at the club level. I just admire how she plays, how she competes and the skill that she has on both ends. She's just a winner and I love that. The position that I played from the area I'm from; it's pretty special to have that connection with her and she's going to be an incredible player in a Duke uniform."
Fleary joins a host of Blue Devils on the roster from the 'DMV', including fellow Sidwell Friends and Team Takeover product Jadyn Donovan. She led Sidwell to both the DCSAA and ISL Championships last season.
