DURHAM, N.C.-- Duke women's basketball and head coach
Kara Lawson announced the signing of
Sanai Green to its 2026 freshman class Friday during the November signing window. Green comes to Durham as the 25th-ranked player in the Sportscenter Next 100 2026 class rankings.
"I chose Duke because of the strong connection I built with the coaches and the team," said Green. "From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew it was home."
Green is a gifted three-level scorer with great size at 6-0. She is dynamic, versatile and very skilled at the wing position. The Long Island Lutheran product loves to take advantage of smaller players by posting them up inside, but also finds success in facing up and attacking off the dribble or knocking down the open three.
Lawson on Sanai Green
"Sanai Green brings this unique joy to life and she's memorable. I can think about hanging up the phone and talking to her and each time I talk to her when I hang up, I feel really good about myself, and I feel really good about my day. She has this way of brightening anyone's path that she comes across. I know I haven't said anything about basketball yet, but I think that speaks to the quality of person she is. She's somebody who's a light. She's somebody who makes other people better and inspires and motivates you to be at your best. I think she's going to have a dynamic impact on our team and our locker room. On top of that she's an incredible player – size, strength, confidence, finishing ability. She's just a wing who will be a difference maker for us on both ends."
