2025 Duke True Spotlight: Ava Cickavage

Ava Cickavage | Midfield | Moorestown, New Jersey [Rutgers]

Duke field hockey head coach Pam Bustin and the program are excited to welcome the addition of a pair of graduate student transfers in Brooke Borzymowski and Ava Cickavage to the 2025 Blue Devils roster.

Arriving in Durham after strong careers at Syracuse and Rutgers, respectively, Borzymowski and Cickavage will provide incredible depth and experience to Duke in 2025. Let's get to know a little more about Ava.

“I have known Ava for many years, through our camps in the early days and playing against her during her undergraduate years. She is a multi-talented field hockey player as well as a dedicated student. Ava strives to accomplish success at the highest level in both her sport and her studies. We look forward to highlighting her experience and skills in any way that can help Duke True perform at a championship level while continuing to challenge Ava’a game and great competitive nature. We are grateful to have Ava on the Blue Devil side!"

Learning More About Ava

Ava was a two-year starter in the midfield at Rutgers after joining the Scarlet Knights following one season at Wake Forest, In her two seasons in Piscataway, New Jersey, Ava started 36 games for Rutgers and earned All-Big Ten and NFHCA All-Region second team recognition in 2023. A steady force for the Scarlet Knights in the midfield, the Moorestown, New Jersey native registered a goal and two assists in her 36 games. In her first season at Rutgers, Ava helped the Scarlet Knights to a 16-4 overall record and NCAA Tournament berth. Attending Wake Forest in 2022, Ava played in 20 games off the bench for the Demon Deacons. She compiled 472 minutes and fired nine shots with six landing on frame. The Deacs finished the season 15-6 overall, advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Equally as successful in the classroom, Ava was Academic All-Big Ten in 2024 and 2025 and landed on the NFHCA National Academic Squad this past season.
