Bill Brill is a Past President of the United States Basketball Writers Association from 1980-81 and was the first active writer to be a member of its Hall of Fame.
The 1952 Duke graduate is a former student assistant in the sports information office and a Duke basketball and baseball statistician. He spent 35 years as a columnist and sports editor of the Roanoke Times & World-News and served as the President of the Atlantic Coast Sportswriters Association from 1982-83.
He has authored three books on Duke basketball - A Season is a Lifetime, Duke Basketball - An Illustrated History and Duke Basketball – A Legacy of Achievement. He also earned the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) Jake Wade Award in 1995 given for lifetime contribution to collegiate sports.
