Duke Swimming & Diving A-Z Meet Day Guide

Guests with any special needs, questions or concerns regarding accessibility and accommodations are encouraged to reach out to our coordinators with the Duke Disability Management System at (919) 668-1267. Our disabilities coordinators can assist in making arrangements for your visit and answer any questions.

Accessible Parking & Drop-Off Location: Accessible parking is available in the Card Lot off Towerview Road (GPS Address: 320 Towerview Road). ADA parking placards or license plates are required for accessible parking. One (1) car per placard.
Accessible Entrance: The accessible entrance is located adjacent to the Card Lot at the Wilson Recreation Center main entrance. Guests should speak to the front desk attendant for access. Once inside, turn left and follow the hallway toward the basketball courts to reach the elevator. Guests should take the elevator to the second (2nd) floor and enter the pavilion through the cardio area.
Accessible Seating: Accessible seating is available on the observation deck above the main pool. Folding chairs will be provided upon request for companion seating.
Accessible Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located in the Wilson Recreation Center next to the Weight Room. Directional signage is posted in the facility to help guide guests.
Service Animals: Please review the Animal and Service Animal Policies section below for detailed guidelines regarding Service Animals and Service Animals in Training.

It is strictly prohibited to bring alcohol into Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. Individuals violating this policy are subject to ejection from the facility.

Service Animals: Duke University Athletics welcomes trained Service Animals. Service Animals must be under the control of their handler at all times, leashed or tethered unless it interferes with their tasks. They must not show aggression or disrupt the normal course of business. Service Animals should wear current rabies vaccination tags or provide proof of vaccination upon request. Violations may result in exclusion from the facility.
Service Animals in Training: In North Carolina, Service Animals in Training have the same access rights as fully trained Service Animals. Trainers are liable for any damages caused. The animal must be housebroken, under control at all times, and follow all behavior guidelines established for trained Service Animals. Violations may result in exclusion from the facility.
Emotional Support Animals: Therapy dogs, emotional support dogs and companion dogs are not Service Animals as defined by the ADA and are not permitted in Taishoff Aquatic Center.
Personal Pets: Personal pets are not permitted. Exceptions are made only for Service Animals and Service Animals in Training.

There are no ATMs located inside Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. However, a Duke Federal Credit Union ATM is available on Tribull Plaza next to the Johnson Family Team Store and Duke Ticket Office. This ATM dispenses cash in $20 increments but does not accept deposits.

Bags of all sizes are permitted inside Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion on meet days. All personal items are subject to inspection by the Meet Manager prior to entry.

Banners and signs are permitted inside Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. However, Duke Athletics reserves the right to prohibit or require the cessation of any display that obstructs the view of other fans, obscures venue signage, resembles an advertisement or is deemed obscene, vulgar, indecent, inappropriate or derogatory.

Hand-held still cameras are permitted for personal use only. Cameras with lenses longer than four (4) inches are not allowed. Video cameras may be used during pre-meet and intermissions but are strictly prohibited from filming while the meet is underway.

Duke Athletics prioritizes the safety and well-being of all guests. Please review the following emergency procedures to ensure a safe experience at Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion:

General Emergency Preparedness

Follow the directions of the PA announcer, Duke Athletics staff, and emergency responders during any emergency inside the venue.
Always designate a pre-determined location both inside and outside the pavilion to meet friends and family in case of separation or an emergency.
Upon arriving at your seat location, first find the nearest exit and then locate an alternate exit in case of emergency.

Emergency Exits

Exits from the pavilion are located at the following locations:

Two (2) sets of doors from the seating area leading to the Wilson Center.
Two (2) sets of doors from the pool deck leading to the Wilson Center.
One (1) set of doors from the observation deck to the Wilson Center.
One (1) set of doors from the observation deck leading to the main lobby.

Emergency Medical Assistance

For first aid or emergency medical assistance, contact any Duke Athletics staff member or call Duke Police at (919) 684-2444.
For incidents outside the stadium, dial 911 to reach Durham Police.

Reporting Suspicious Activity

If you see or become aware of any unusual or suspicious activity, report it to the nearest Duke Athletics staff member.
Alternatively, text “DUKE (issue and location)” to 919-808-5576 (message and data rates may apply).

Emergency Vehicles

Emergency vehicles may be present in and around the pavilion. Please do not obstruct their paths or interfere with their operations.
Vehicles or objects (tables, tents, games, etc.) blocking emergency vehicles, designated fire lanes, exits, or pathways will be removed. Vehicles are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

All doors to Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion will open 60 minutes prior to the start of the meet. Fans are permitted to leave and re-enter the venue during the meet. Please note the following guidelines for entry:

Designated Entrance

Wilson Recreation Center Main Entrance: All guests must enter through the main entrance located adjacent to the Card Lot. Guests should speak to the front desk attendant for access. Once inside, guests will turn left and follow the hallway toward the basketball courts. Guests can then:
- Walk down the stairs to the second floor to access pavilion seating.
- Guests with ADA needs should take the elevator to the second floor and enter the pavilion through the cardio area.

Bag Inspections

All personal items, including small bags, purses, and strollers, are subject to inspection and search prior to entering. For safety and security, Duke Athletics reserves the right to deny entry to any item deemed inappropriate.

Important Policies:

Guests attending Duke swimming & diving meets are not permitted to use Wilson Recreation Center fitness equipment or gather in its fitness, gym, or locker room areas. Violators are subject to ejection from the meet.

No concessions are available for purchase on match days at Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. However, fans are permitted to bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages into the venue. Please dispose of all trash and recyclables in the appropriate receptacles.

Duke Athletics is committed to fostering a fun, safe, and family-friendly environment for all guests. Fans are expected to conduct themselves appropriately before, during, and after the competition. All fans, players, coaches, and officials should be treated with respect and courtesy.

Prohibited Behaviors:

Interfering with other guests’ ability to enjoy the meet
Using or displaying foul or abusive language or gestures
Appearing intoxicated or in a diminished capacity
Entering the competition or restricted access areas
Throwing objects onto the competition area or within the venue
Engaging in disorderly conduct

Violators may be subject to ejection and possible arrest. If you observe inappropriate behavior, please contact a Duke Athletics staff member or text "DUKE (issue and location)" to (919) 808-5576. Message and data rates may apply.

Using Wilson Recreation Center fitness equipment or gathering in its fitness, gym or locker room areas during meet times is prohibited. Violators are subject to ejection.

If you are in need of assistance or information, please ask for the Meet Manager on the observation deck on the west side of the pavilion.

If any article is lost or found at Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion, please inquire about or report the item to Duke Athletics staff. All lost and found items will be brought to the concessions and merchandise sales table in the pool lobby. Items not picked up by the end of the meet will be available for pick-up the following business day by calling (919) 668-5658 or emailing duaa-gameops@duke.edu. Unclaimed items will be discarded after 30 days.

Only Duke personnel or approved media and photographers will be allowed onto the pool deck. All media and photographers should contact the Duke Communications at least two days prior to the meet to confirm approval.

The Johnson Family Nike Team Store is located in the Scott Family Athletics Performance Center on Tribull Plaza between Cameron Indoor Stadium and Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium. For store hours, please visit the Duke Stores website.

Meet parking is available only in the designated university parking lots listed below:

Parking Alert: When Swimming & diving meets coincide with other events or game days, parking may be in different lots and there may be a charge to park. Meet-specific parking and traffic alerts will be posted on GoDuke.com/GameDayParking prior to the meet.
General Public Parking: Parking is available in the Science Drive Garage (GPS Address: 302 Science Drive). For larger meets, parking will also be available in the Grounds Lot with access via Frank Bassett Drive (GPS Address: 147 Frank Bassett Drive). For stand-alone meets, parking is free of charge.
Accessible Parking and Drop-Off/Pick-Up Point: Accessible parking is available in the Card Lot (GPS Address: 320 Towerview Road) in front of Wilson Recreation Center. State-issued ADA parking placards or license plates are required. One (1) car only per placard. Guests should speak to the parking attendant at the lot entrance for access and assistance. For stand-alone meets, parking is free of charge.
Parking Emergency Information: In case of emergency, please dial (919) 684-2444 for Duke Police Emergency Dispatch. Duke Police will be the primary responder on-campus for emergency calls. If an emergency occurs and authorities are contacted, please designate someone in your party to help direct emergency personnel to the emergency location.
Tailgating: Tailgating is permitted in the Grounds Lot. Tents, tables, tarps or canopies are not permitted if they impede foot or vehicular traffic or if they extend into additional parking space.

Digital programs are available for all Duke Athletics events at https://goduke.com/publications. Heat sheets are not available.

For the safety and meet day experience of all fans, the following items are prohibited from entering Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion:

Alcoholic beverages
Artificial noisemakers
Balloons, balls and frisbees
Cameras with lenses over four inches
All Drones and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) – https://drones.duke.edu/policies
Hazardous materials
Items obstructing sightlines of other guests
Laser pointers
Outside chairs
Pets (Exception: Service Animals and Service Animals in Training)
Selfie sticks
Shoes with wheels (wheelies)
Video cameras
Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)

Duke University reserves the right to deny anyone or anything from entering the pavilion. Any such items should be returned to your vehicle and/or discarded. All fans are subject to search before entering the pavilion.

For the safety of all in attendance, bags/items are not permitted to be left unattended outside of Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. Unattended items found outside the stadium will be dealt with in a manner deemed appropriate by stadium officials, including but not limited to disposal. Duke University and Duke Athletics are not responsible for the loss of any unattended items.

All restrooms are located within the Wilson Center adjacent to the weight room. Directional signage will be posted throughout the facility to assist guests.

Duke home swimming & diving meets at Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion are free to the public. No tickets are necessary. Guests will be wrist-banded upon entry through the Wilson Recreation Center doors.

General admission seating is available in the bleachers above the pool and diving well on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seating areas can be accessed through Wilson Recreation Center. Seating for persons with disabilities is available on the observation deck.

Duke University is a Tobacco-Free Campus, including meet days at Taishoff Aquatic Center. This policy prohibits the use of all tobacco-based products, including but not limited to:

Cigarettes
Cigars and cigarillos
Chewing tobacco and snuff
Electronic smoking devices (e-cigarettes, vaping products and IQOS)

Umbrellas are permitted inside the Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. For the courtesy and safety of all guests, we ask that umbrellas not be opened anywhere inside the pavilion.
