DURHAM, N.C.? Soccer America released its MVP awards on Thursday with Duke University junior Lorraine Quinn claiming second team accolades, after guiding Duke to the NCAA College Cup quarterfinals last month.
A first and second team of 11 players were honored by Soccer America with five of the honorees being from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
“We are very proud of Lorraine,” said Duke Head Coach Robbie Church. “This is an honor that is well deserved. She was fantastic for us from the first day of practice through our final game in the elite eight.”
Quinn, who is from Farmingdale, N.Y., established herself as one of the top midfielders in the nation in 2007 as she totaled four goals, three assists and 11 points in 23 games started. On the year, Quinn posted goals against Elon, Boston College, Maryland and South Carolina, while collecting assists versus Yale, Elon and North Carolina. In three seasons at Duke, Quinn has produced eight goals, 12 assists and 28 points.
The 5-2 Quinn is one of the most talented players in the game today with excellent foot skills. She also earned NSCAA/adidas All-Region honors this week, while gathering first team All-ACC accolades in November.
