DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's soccer team will make its eighth straight and 17th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 12 as the Blue Devils (10-7-3) will take on California at 8:30 p.m., in Gainesville, Fla. The University of Florida (18-2-2) will host a subregional at the James G. Pressly Stadium as the fifth-ranked Gators will host Mercer (10-8-1) in the first match at 6:00 p.m.
The winners of the first round matches will meet on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 1:00 p.m., for the chance to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Duke in the NCAA TournamentBy earning an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament, the Blue Devils have reached the big show for the eighth straight season and the 17th time in school history. Duke has won at least one contest in the tournament in seven out of the last eight years. The Blue Devils hold an overall record of 19-16 in tournament play. The Blue Devils are coming off registering back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances for the first time in school history in 2007 and 2008.
The SeriesDuke and California will meet for the third time in school history with the Blue Devils holding a 2-0 lead in the series. Both contests have been at neutral sites as Duke won a 4-2 match on Oct. 2, 1994 in the St. Louis Tournament and notched a 1-0 decision on Oct. 3, 1999 in the Golden Gate Classic.

A Look at CaliforniaThe Bears own a 9-5-5 record on the season. California is coming off closing the season with a 1-0 victory over Oregon State in double-overtime. The Bears have been led by Alex Morgan with 14 goals and one assist in only 11 matches. Lauren Battung is second on the squad with seven goals. California is coached by Neil McGuire, who is in his third year with the program.

Lack of Scoring in the Big DanceThe Blue Devils feature a very inexperienced roster as far as NCAA Tournament scoring. Duke has only one player who has scored a goal in NCAA action –
Rebecca Allen (vs. Radford in 2008) -- and one player who has assisted on a goal in NCAA play –
Marybeth Kreger (vs. William & Mary in 2008). The Blue Devils do feature 12 student-athletes who played in the NCAA First Round match in 2009 when Duke fell, 2-0, to Rutgers. Seven of those Blue Devils started the game last year –

All-ACC HonorsDuke freshmen
Laura Weinberg and
Mollie Pathman have been named second team All-ACC, while both rookies were selected to the All-ACC Freshman team. Rookie
Kaitlyn Kerr was also named to the All-ACC Freshman team. Weinberg owns nine goals, two assists and 20 points starting at forward. Pathman has a team-best 21 points, while posting eight goals and five assists. Kerr saw limited action at the first of the year due to a knee injury but has come on strong with three goals and five assists.

Mollie Pathman notched two goals against North Carolina to close the regular season with eight tallies. Her multi-goal performance marked the third of her short career and the second in ACC play. Pathman enters NCAA Tournament play scoring five goals over her last seven matches. She owns eight total goals and a team-high 21 points on the year.

Tara Campbell has registered a career-best seven shutouts. Campbell now owns 13 career shutouts in two years.
Weinberg Nets Multi-Goal GameFor the first time in her short career, freshman
Laura Weinberg scored two goals against sixth-ranked Boston College on Oct. 21. She also added an assist on the third goal to give her five points in only 54 minutes. Weinberg now owns nine goals and is one away from matching the Duke single-season record for goals by a freshman. Sarah Friend currently holds the record with 10 in 1989.
Bradley Gets on the Field for Senior NightAfter not playing all season due to an injury, senior
Kendall Bradley started the North Carolina match on senior night and played six seconds before UNC kicked the ball out of bounds and she was subbed out. It was a very nice sportsmanship by the Tar Heels and Bradley was able to suit up for one game.

Youthful LineupAt times this season, the Blue Devils have started 10 freshmen and sophomores along with one senior. Duke boasts a total of 17 freshmen and sophomores on the roster. Sister DuoDuke features the only sister duo in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 2010. Ashley and
Avery Rape will begin the first of three years of playing together this season. The duo are from Dallas, Texas and attended Greenhill School. Ashley is a defender, while Avery is a forward/midfielder.
Blue Devils Return From InjuryFour Blue Devils who missed the 2009 campaign with injuries played their first regular season collegiate contest in almost two years in the season opener at Georgia.

Kendall Bradley will miss the 2010 campaign due to concussions. Freshman Katie Walter has not practiced since the opening day of practice due to concussions as well. Junior

Maddy Haller missed both the Francis Marion and High Point contests this season due to a broken finger. Sophomore
Nicole Lipp missed three ACC contests with a groin injury.
The Head CoachHead Coach
Robbie Church is in his 10th season on the Duke sideline. He has notched a 295-190-40 overall record in his 25 years as a men's and women's head coach. At Duke, Church has amassed a 112-76-26 record and led the Blue Devils to seven straight NCAA Tournaments.
