Blue Devils Set to Battle UCLA in College Cup Semifinals

DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 1 seed Duke Blue Devils (23-2-0) are back in familiar territory as they return to the NCAA College Cup for the second time in three years, facing the No. 2 seed UCLA Bruins (19-2-2) Friday, Dec. 1 in Orlando, Fla., for the chance to play for the national championship.

Kickoff from Orlando City Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with the contest being nationally televised on ESPNU. Jenn Hildreth and Julie Foudy will have the call for all three matches this weekend. Fans can also access the match through WatchESPN, which can be found on WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.

Duke made its last trip to the College Cup in 2015, where it advanced to the finals to face Penn State, eventually falling in a tight 1-0 battle. The 2017 edition of the Blue Devils features a veteran-heavy squad that has broken nine different school records, including single-season victories (23) and shutouts (17).

The winner of Friday's contest will move on to the national championship match to face either No. 1 Stanford or No. 1 South Carolina, which face off Friday at 5 p.m. The NCAA College Cup Finals is set for noon Sunday, Dec. 3.

Need To Know…

No. 1 seed Duke dominated Baylor last weekend to make its fourth appearance in the NCAA College Cup. The Blue Devils outscored opponents 15-0, posting shutouts in its first four NCAA matches for the first time in history to advance to the College Cup for the second time in the last three years (2011).
The Blue Devils' 23 wins in 2017 set the school record for most single-season victories.
Head coach Robbie Church captured his 400th-career victory (men's and women's) last week.
Duke's win versus Baylor set three other school marks: most shutouts (17), home wins (10) and ranked victories (10)
The Blue Devils captured its third ACC regular season championship and first since 2011 with a perfect 10-0-0 record in conference play. Duke is the first since Virginia in 2013 to finish perfect in the league.
Duke took home four of the five ACC individual awards and a league high nine All-ACC honors last week. Robbie Church was named Coach of the Year, while Imani Dorsey (Offensive POTY), Schuyler DeBree (Defensive POTY) and Rebecca Quinn (Midfielder of the Year) pulled in the other three honors.
Duke won a program best 19-straight matches from Aug. 20 - Nov. 3. The previous record was eight straight in 2000.
Leading the Duke attack are senior Imani Dorsey and junior Kayla McCoy, who lead the squad with 14 goals as well as 38 and 35 points, respectively. Dorsey has tallied a point in 18 matches, while McCoy has six goals and three assists in the last 10 contests.
On the defensive end for Duke has been the standouts of Chelsea Burns, Schuyler DeBree, Morgan Reid and Taylor Mitchell. Burns, DeBree and Reid have have started all 25 contests and recorded 17 clean sheets. DeBree has gone the distance in 21 games this season and Reid in 20, while Mitchell and Burns have 14 such performances.
Senior EJ Proctor has been nothing short of dominant in goal this year. She has drawn 23 starts (1967:24 minutes) and is sixth nationally with 13 shutouts and seventh with a .366 GAA. Her 13 single-season shutouts and 34 all-time clean sheets both tie for the most in school history.

Four Down, Two To Go…
The Blue Devils are two wins from their ultimate goal of winning the program's first national championship after defeating UNCG, Oklahoma State, No. 4 Texas and Baylor in the first four rounds of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Duke has now reached the College Cup for the second time in three years and fourth time in history. Robbie Church is now 30-13-8 in NCAA Tournament play and has reached the College Cup for the third time as Duke's head coach (2011, 2015, 2017).

Records Keep Falling In 2017…
Between trophies won and records broken, the 2017 edition of Duke women's soccer continues to cement themselves as the best team in program history. With Sunday's win, the Blue Devils continued their run up the record books. Here's a look at how the 2017 squad has rewritten the DWS records.

Dorsey Moving Up The Charts…
With a pair of goals over the weekend, senior Imani Dorsey continued to climb up the DWS record books. On the career side, she is now fourth in shots (236), fourth in game-winning goals (11), tied for sixth in goals (29), tied for fifth in assists (22) and sixth in points (80). She also made moves on the single-season side of things, moving into a tie for fourth in points (38), tie for fifth in game winners (5), sixth with 83 shots and tied for seventh with 14 goals.

Five Blue Devils Earn USC All-East Region Honors…
A region high five Duke Blue Devils earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Regional honors on Wednesday. Imani Dorsey, Rebecca Quinn, EJ Proctor and Schuyler DeBree were tabbed first team, while Kayla McCoy earned second team honors. The five are the most in the East Region and tied for the most overall nationally. The four first team members are the most amongst any team in the country.

Dorsey, Quinn Tabbed MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalists…
A pair of Blue Devils landed on the semifinalists list for the top award in collegiate soccer, as Imani Dorsey and Rebecca Quinn were two of 15 selected as semifinalists for the honor. The three finalists will be announced on Dec. 8, with the winner formally announced on Jan. 5.

Church And Co. Tabbed Regional Staff Of The Year…
Thanks to the numerous records that have fallen and trophies accumulated, head coach Robbie Church and his staff of Erwin van Bennekom, Carla Overbeck and Lane Davis were tabbed the United Soccer Coaches East Regional Staff of the Year.

Duke Scores A TD, Tacks On The PAT…
It was a clinical performance from the Blue Devils two weeks ago, as they set a school record for goals in an NCAA Tournament contest with seven in the shutout win against Oklahoma State. The seven were the most since defeating Wofford 9-1 on Aug. 19, 2016. A total of six different Blue Devils scored in the contest and six collected assists, as Duke set a season high with 24 points.

Set Em Up, Shut Em Down…
There have been a number of storylines to this year's Duke women's soccer squad, but one of the best has been the play of the Blue Devil defense. On the year, Duke has allowed just 10 goals, outscoring opponents 60-10, and has posted a school record 17 total shutouts after blanking its first four opponents in NCAA Tournament play. Over the last 10 matches, the Blue Devils have outscored foes 24-3 and shut out seven opponents, including picking up four ranked victories.

Duke leads the ACC with a .397 goals against average and a .680 shutout percentage, which stand sixth and eighth in the NCAA, respectively. The Blue Devils kept the performance going strong through ACC play, as they earned clean sheets against eight of their 10 conference opponents. That mark is the most in program history.

Added onto that is the impressive start to NCAA Tournament play, as the Blue Devils have outscored foes 15-0 to start the postseason. It is the first time Duke has shut out its first four opponents in the tournament. With the shutout wins against Oklahoma State, Texas and Baylor, Duke has shutdown its Big 12 foes this year (including West Virginia) 18-0.

Goals On Goals On Goals…
The Blue Devils continue to dominate on the offensive side of the ball as well, tallying 19 multi-goal matches this season, highlighted by their 7-0 thrashing of Oklahoma State in the second round of NCAA Tournament play. Duke has 171 points and 60 goals, which stands second and third in the nation. The squad has tallied 2.40 goals per game, which comes in at eighth in the country. A total of 13 Blue Devils have scored this year, showing the array of weapons coach Robbie Church has at his disposal, led by junior Kayla McCoy and senior Imani Dorsey, who both have 14 goals on the year.

Proctor Nearly Flawless Between The Posts…
It's been business as usual for EJ Proctor this season. The All-ACC First Team keeper has been solely responsible for 13 of Duke's 17 shutouts this year, putting her career total at 34, which is tied for the most in Duke history. Her 13 single season clean sheets also ties for the most in school history.

On the year, Proctor is sixth nationally in shutouts, while standing seventh with .366 goals against average. She is 24th in the country with a .855 save percentage.

Early Goal Emphasis…
Heading into the Florida State contest, head coach Robbie Church put a heavy emphasis on scoring within the first 15 minutes of play and his squad responded. Prior to that game, Duke had just one score within the first 15 minutes, but since then Ella Stevens (2:37 vs. Florida State), Taylor Racioppi (3:35 at Boston College & 9:16 vs. Oklahoma State, NCAAT 2nd), Kayla McCoy (8:21 at Syracuse & 5:46 vs. Baylor, NCAAT), Chelsea Burns (13:01 vs. Boston College, ACCT) and Imani Dorsey (2:45 vs. Texas, NCAAT 3rd) have netted early goals.

A majority of Duke's 60 goals have come midway through the first half and in the early portion of the second, as the it has tallied 12 in the 45:01 – 60:00 stretch and 11 from 15:01 – 30:00. Duke has punched in 30 scores in the second half.

All Of The First Career Goals…
The 2017 NCAA Tournament has not just featured a number of goals in general for Duke, but also a number of first time goals. Karlie Paschall, Anna Munro and Tess Boade have scored their first-career goals this tournament, marking the most in school history to do so in an NCAA Tournament.

Welcome Back, Quinn…
After missing the last three games while away with the Canadian National Team, redshirt senior Rebecca Quinn made a major splash in her first match back. The Toronto native netted one goal and recorded two assists, racking up a career-high four points in the win against Oklahoma State.

We Are The Champions…
Thanks to a Notre Dame-UNC draw and a 1-0 victory at No. 10 Virginia on the final night of the regular season, the Blue Devils captured the third ACC regular season championship in program history and first since 2011. Duke capped a perfect 10-0-0 conference season, becoming the first team since Virginia in 2013 to finish perfect in ACC play. The conference crown makes the Blue Devils the second school in ACC history to capture at least three regular season titles, joining North Carolina.

All ACC, All Duke…
The announcement of the 2017 All-ACC Awards just kept reaffirming what we already know: Duke women's soccer has been nothing short of dominant. There were 13 total honors for the Blue Devils, with four individual awards and a league-high and program record nine All-ACC selections. Robbie Church was named ACC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career (2011) and becomes the sixth coach in ACC history to earn the award multiple times.

Imani Dorsey (Offensive POTY), Schuyler DeBree (Defensive POTY) and Rebecca Quinn (Midfielder of the Year) pulled in the individual honors. Dorsey, DeBree and Quinn were also named All-ACC First Team, along with Kayla McCoy and EJ Proctor. Ella Stevens and Taylor Racioppi were tabbed All-ACC Second Team, while Ashton Miller earned third team laurels and Taylor Mitchell was named to the conference's freshman team.

A Streak For The Record Books…
When the 2017 season is looked back upon, one of the major headlines will be the incredible 19-match winning streak the Blue Devils put together from Aug. 20 – Nov. 3. During the longest winning streak in DWS history, Duke defeated six ranked opponents, shut out 13 foes and went 2-0 at its home tournament for the first time since 2012. The 19-game stretch of wins was the longest in Duke athletics history since men's basketball reeled off 25 straight from 2010-11 and finished tied for the 12th-longest streak in the athletic department's history.

Another Day, Another Record Broken…
The winning streak was not the only record the Blue Devils captured this year. Duke racked up a program record 10 ACC wins, defeating Virginia Tech, No. 18 Notre Dame, Pitt, Louisville, NC State, No. 16 Florida State, Miami, Boston College, Syracuse and No. 10 Virginia.
