DURHAM, N.C. – For the ninth time in the past 10 seasons, the Duke women's soccer program has closed out a season nationally ranked inside the top 20, as they received the No. 18 spot in the final United Soccer Coaches poll of the 2019 season.
This is the fifth-straight season the Blue Devils have earned a final ranking inside the top 20, with a No. 2 spot in 2015, No. 7 in 2016, No. 3 in 2017 and No. 10 in 2018.
National champion Stanford took the top spot in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, while the ACC placed six teams in the top 25. North Carolina finished second, while Florida State and Virginia placed seventh and ninth, respectively. NC State finished one spot ahead of the Blue Devils at 17
th, while Louisville rounded out the ACC teams at 25
th.
Duke's senior class closed out their Blue Devil careers as the second-winningest class in program history, racking up 63 total wins in their four years. Over their four years, Stevens,
Mia Gyau,
Brooke Heinsohn, Olviia Erlbeck and
Mackenzie Coles have reached one NCAA College Cup and one NCAA Quarterfinal, while capturing the 2017 ACC regular season championship.
Stevens closes out her Duke career as one of the most accomplished players in school history. Her 82 career points place her sixth all-time in Duke history, while she ranks amongst the top five in program history in career goals scored (24) and career assists (34). The Grayson, Ga., native received All-ACC accolades each of her four years with the Blue Devils, being named to the All-ACC Second Team her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, while receiving All-Freshman Team honors for her rookie campaign.
