DURHAM, N.C. – Following the completion of the fall campaign, the Duke women's soccer team was tabbed No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Association final fall national rankings as announced Tuesday.
With the No. 5 ledger, Duke has been listed in the top seven of the national rankings in seven of the eight weeks, including four in the top five.
Florida State held the top slot at No. 1, while North Carolina, TCU, West Virginia and Duke rounded out the top five. Arkansas, Clemson, Texas A&M, Virginia and South Carolina closed the top 10.
The Blue Devils collected a 7-4-2 overall and 4-2-2 ACC ledger in the fall. All four losses came to the top two teams nationally – Florida State and North Carolina. Duke knocked off Clemson on two different occasions, when the Tigers were ranked No. 3 and No. 5 in the nation. The Blue Devils also tied Virginia, 1-1, who are No. 9 nationally.
The Blue Devils featured seven different student-athletes that scored at least one goal in the fall, while junior
Marykate McGuire led Duke with 10 points (two goals and six assists). Freshman
Olivia Migli paced the Blue Devils with four goals and sophomore
Ruthie Jones was solid in goal with five shutouts and a 0.83 goals-against average.
