DURHAM – The 23rd-ranked Duke women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at home inside Koskinen Stadium on Friday evening to seventh-ranked Clemson. The Blue Devils fell to 5-5-3, 1-3-3 in the ACC, while the Tigers improved to 11-1-3, 5-1-1.
How It Happened
• The first half was mostly a defense battle for both teams with Clemson outshooting the Blue Devils 7-2.
• Clemson attempted the first six shots of the match.
• At the 28:19 mark, the Blue Devils were called for a very unlucky handball in the box as Clemson attempted a shot and it hit the arm of a Duke defender. Makenna Morris stepped up and connected on her seventh goal of the season to put the Tigers ahead, 1-0.
• Duke took its first two shots of the match in the final 10 minutes as
Devin Lynch had an attempt that went high.
Maggie Graham then had an open look in the final minute that went high over the crossbar as well.
• In the second half, the Blue Devils were much more offensive and had a few dangerous chances, but couldn't push anything past the goal line.

Grace Watkins fed freshman
Mia Minestrella in the 58th minute, but the Tiger goalkeeper was able to come out and put a stop to Duke's opportunity. Minestrella also had another attempt that was saved.

• Senior
Olivia Migli returned to the starting lineup, after missing the last four matches. She played 18 minutes in the first half and had to be removed. Migli did not return.
• Duke was outshot 14-6 for the match with
Maggie Graham leading the Blue Devils with two attempts. The six shots tied a season low.
• The Blue Devils were held without a corner kick.

Kat Rader was limited to zero shots.
• Freshman
Kiera Clemens made her collegiate debut as she played the final four minutes.
• Goalkeeper
Leah Freeman tied a season high with six saves.

Duke will next travel to Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
