Niesenbaum’s Win Not Enough as Blue Devils Fall at No. 16 Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Duke wrestling wrapped up its final regular season dual meet on Saturday and dropped a 43-3 decision to No. 16 Pittsburgh at Fitzgerald Field House.

No. 18 Jonah Niesenbaum registered his 12th straight dual win on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to help lift the Blue Devils past the Panthers, who clinched a share of the ACC regular season title with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Pitt jumped out to a quick 16-0 edge after the 125, 133 and 141 matches following two pins and a major decision.
Redshirt junior Patrick Rowland battled against No. 29 Tyler Badgett in the 149-pound match but ultimately dropped an 8-3 decision.
In the 165 bout between redshirt senior Gabe Dinette and No. 22 Holden Heller, the two were locked even until halfway through the second period before Heller scored another takedown to ultimately pull away for the 6-3 win.
The Blue Devils' lone three points came in the final match of the day with Niesenbaum recorded a 5-3 decision-win over Pitt's Jake Slinger in the heavyweight bout. With the victory, Niesenbaum shifted his season ledger to 24-3.

The Blue Devils head to Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday, March 6 for the ACC Championships. The ACC Network will carry the finals of the tournament with preliminary and consolation round matches available on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX).
