Duke Duo on Pony Express Award Mid-Season Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke's defensive line duo of Vincent Anthony Jr. and Wesley Williams was named to The Pony Express Award Mid-Season Watch List. The honor is a regular season award presented to the best duo in college football, regardless of positions.
Craig James and Eric Dickerson – former teammates at SMU and proud members of various Halls of Fame from high school to the NFL – created the award to celebrate selflessness, collaboration, and true team excellence.

It highlights two players whose combined efforts elevate not only each other, but their entire team. While performance on the field certainly matters, this recognition is rooted in an unshakable team-first mindset. It's about doing your job at the highest level, not for personal gain, but for the success of the teammate beside you."Â
Anthony Jr. and Williams have combined for 16.0 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks to lead the Blue Devil defense. The two have helped Duke stand second in the ACC in points per league game at 21.0 points yielded. Duke is also ranked tied for fifth nationally in total tackles for loss and fifth in TFL per game. ÂAgainst No. 11 Illinois, Anthony Jr. logged a career-high 3.0 sacks, tied for the fourth most in a game in program history. Williams was at his best this fall at California with a personal-best nine tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss.Â
