BALTIMORE – Duke redshirt sophomore quarterback Darian Mensah is one of the 2025 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award's Top 10 quarterbacks. The award honors the nation's top upperclassman quarterback who best exemplifies character, leadership and excellence both on and off the field.
"This group has shown tremendous growth and leadership throughout the season," said John Unitas Jr., President of the Golden Arm Educational Foundation. "They've proven themselves as not only outstanding quarterbacks, but as true representatives of what the Golden Arm Award stands for — excellence on the field and character off it."
In his first season at Duke, Mensah leads the ACC in passing yards (2,211), passing yards per game (315.9), passing touchdowns (17), pass efficiency (165.8) and pass completions per game (25.00). He ranks within the top 10 nationally in passing yards per game (1st), pass completions per game (6th), passing yards (8th) and passing efficiency (10th). Â
Mensah, a product of San Luis Obispo, Calif., has led the Blue Devils to a 3-1 start to ACC play, their best record through four conference games since going 3-1 in 2015. Mensah has helped Duke's offense power through league play by averaging 36.5 points per ACC game, which ranks as the fourth most among Power Four programs. Â
