DURHAM, N.C. – Along with the 12 returning letterwinners from last season, the Duke softball program also welcomed 10 newcomers in six freshman and four transfers. During the fall, GoDuke.com will be spotlighting each of the 10 newcomers ahead of the 2026 campaign.
The first Blue Devil spotlight is freshman infielder Ariel Krueger. A native of Van Buren Township, Mich., Krueger attended Woodhaven High School where she was a four-year letterwinner and three-time All-Region selection. Krueger also earned All-State honors during her junior year. In the classroom, she was a member of the National Honor Society all four years and a two-time Academic All-State honoree.
GoDuke.com: What are you most excited about this season?
Ariel Krueger: This season I'm most excited to learn more about myself and grow as an athlete.
GD: What is your favorite part about softball?
AK: My favorite part of softball is the community and sisterhood that I get playing on this amazing team.
GD: What do you like most about Duke so far?
AK: Being a newcomer at Duke is amazing because I have great teammates to look up to and awesome coaches as my mentors.
GD: What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of softball?
AK: Outside of softball, I like reading my bible, listening to worship music and playing pickleball.
