DURHAM, N.C. – Redshirt junior offensive lineman Brian Parker II earned a spot on the Pro Football and Sports Network All-America Third Team the organization announced Wednesday.Â
Parker II is in his third season as Duke's starting right tackle and was a preseason All-America pick by Phil Steele (third team) and Athlon Sports (fourth team). He was named to five Midseason All-America squads before earning Second Team All-ACC accolades earlier this month.Â
Parker II started all 13 games for the Blue Devils and helped Duke capture its first ACC Championship Game in program history and an outright ACC title for the first time since 1962. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native has an 86.5 Pro Football Focus (PFF) offensive grade, the sixth highest among FBS offensive linemen and fifth best among tackles. He was named the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following the team's 38-3 victory at Syracuse on September 27. He was also named to the PFF National Team of the Week for his efforts against the Orange.Â
This season, Duke won four or more ACC games by 10 or more points for just the sixth time, joining the 1953, 1956, 1957, 1960 and 1989 squads. Parker II's work helped averaged 36.3 points per regular season ACC game, which ranked eighth nationally and fourth among Power Four programs.
Parker II and the Blue Devils cap their season December 31 at the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl at 2 p.m. on CBS.
