DURHAM, N.C. — Duke wrestling redshirt sophomore
Gaetano Console registered his first fall of the season and first career ACC win to close the match as the Blue Devils dropped a 37-12 bout against Stanford on Sunday afternoon inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.Â

The Blue Devils fell to 4-14, 0-6 in the ACC, while the Cardinal move to 10-4, 2-3.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Redshirt sophomore Gaetano Console closed the match with a 174-pound bout against Lars Michaelson of Stanford.After a scoreless first period, Console registered an escape five seconds into the second and then with 27 seconds remaining Console collected a takedown and fall to win the bout.
- The fall for Console was his first of the season and seventh of his career.It also marked Console's first career ACC victory.
- In a contest of a pair of ranked heavyweights, Duke's 20th-ranked Connor Barket went up against 31st-ranked Peter Ming.Barket led 3-0 after the first period and moved it to 4-0 with an escape to start the second.Ming then took control with two takedowns in the second and ended up dropping a 12-5 decision.
- Freshman Evan Coles earned the win at 125 for the Blue Devils as Stanford forfeited.
- Duke's 26th-ranked Aidan Wallace had a tough match against 13th-ranked Hunter Garvin at 165 pounds.The match was scoreless heading into the second period where Garvin netted three points and then netted a couple of takedowns in the third to earn a 10-2 major decision win.
- The Blue Devils recognized a pair of seniors – Christian Colman and Logan Ferrero – prior to the match for senior day.
