No. 16 Duke Sweeps Five Races at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – No. 16 Duke rowing opened its 2025 spring slate in strong fashion after sweeping all five races on the first day of the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

The Blue Devils competed against No. 18 Notre Dame and host Louisville in the first session on Saturday. The afternoon races against No. 19 Alabama were cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Duke's Third Varsity Eight opened the morning of racing with a first-place time of 6:52.760, over eight seconds faster than the second-place crew from Notre Dame.
The Varsity Eight followed suit, stroking its way to another first-place finish, clocking a time of 6:32.999.
In the Varsity Four race, the Blue Devils cruised to victory, posting the winning time of 7:18.401. Notre Dame finished second at 7:23.875, while Louisville took third with a time of 7:42.588
Duke's Second Varsity Eight showed strength in the fourth race of the day, powering past the Fighting Irish and Cardinals to finish in 6:33.009.
The Second Varsity Four lineup of coxswain Ava Liebmann, Avery Packard, Thea Lapham, Mikaela Voinov and Jane Atkeson completed the five-race sweep with another top time of 7:23.651 to round out the first day of competition for Duke.
