SAN ANTONIO - Duke men's basketball freshman
Cooper Flagg was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, alongside Walter Clayton Jr. and Will Richard from Florida and LJ Cryer and J'Wan Roberts from Houston on the five-player team. Flagg is just the fifth player in the 2000s to be voted to the All-Tournament team in the Final Four without playing in the national title game, joining Alijah Martin (FAU, 2023),
Paolo Banchero (Duke, 2022), Johnny Juzang (UCLA, 2021) and Jamie Skeen (VCU, 2011).
In Duke's 70-67 defeat to Houston in the national semifinal, Flagg posted 27 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals, becoming the first player, since defensive stats became official in 1986, to lead a team in all five categories in a Final Four game.Â
A native of Newport, Maine, Flagg is the 31st Blue Devil to be named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. The 225-pound freshman finished the season averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 blocks per game and was honored as National Player of the Year by five of the six awards recognized by the NCAA.
