DURHAM, N.C. – Duke softball head coach
Marissa Young announced the addition of right-handed pitcher
Larissa Jacquez to the Blue Devil softball program Tuesday morning.
"Larissa led the Southland Conference with an impressive 1.65 ERA and held opponents to a .208 batting average last season," said Young. "A true workhorse, she recorded 151 strikeouts over 148 innings — demonstrating both endurance and dominance in the circle. Larissa is hungry to compete at the highest level and will be a key addition to our dynamic pitching staff. I'm excited to welcome her to Durham."
Jacquez joins the program after two seasons at University of the Incarnate Word. A native of Eagle Pass, Texas, Jacquez is coming off a stellar sophomore season where she led the UIW pitching staff in strikeouts (151), innings pitched (148.2), complete games (12) and shutouts (6). She posted a 1.65 ERA, which led the Southland Conference (SLC) and ranked 12th nationally. Jacquez had a standout performance during the series finale against East Texas A&M, fanning a career-high 14 batters in seven innings to lead the Cardinals to a 7-0 victory and secure the series sweep. The sophomore capped off the year with all-conference honors after being named to the second
team for the first time in her career.
During her first season with the Cardinals, Jacquez quickly made an impact on the program. She made 28 appearances in the circle and earned 18 starts. She picked up SLC Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time after collecting 14 total strikeouts in eight innings during her two appearances in the weekend series against Houston Christian.
In her career, Jacquez has appeared in 56 games, earning 36 starts, and owns a 2.01 ERA in the circle. She posted back-to-back 100-plus strikeout seasons after fanning 151 in 2025 and 129 in 2024. The incoming junior has recorded14 games with seven or more strikeouts, including five games with 10 or more.
Off the field, Jacquez was recognized for her efforts in the classroom as she earned Southland Conference All-Academic first team honors in 2025.
