DURHAM, N.C. – Following her standout career with the Blue Devils, recent Duke softball graduate
Ana Gold was named the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Rookie of the Year, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Heading into the final game of the regular season, Gold leads all rookies and ranks fifth among all players in the AUSL with a .394 batting average. She sits fourth in the league with 28 hits on the year and is one of just two players with multiple triples. Gold has posted a hit in eight of her last nine games, including a pair of home runs in the 12-6 victory over the Bandits Tuesday night.
In addition to being named the league's top rookie, Gold was named to the All-Defensive Team as a corner infielder, joining her Blaze teammates Baylee Klingler (Washington) and Korbe Otis (Florida). The 2025 All-Defensive Team features players from each team. The Talons led the way with five players who earned the nod while the Blaze had three selections. The Bandits and Volts each had one honoree.
The Ballston Spa, N.Y., native played a key part in the Blue Devils' success on offense during her four seasons. She saw action in 232 games, earning 230 starts, and posted a .306 career batting average. In her final season, Gold tallied career highs in hits (62), runs scored (62) and stolen bases (20). She was one of just three players to start all 59 games and led the team in stolen bases and home runs (16).
She has rewritten Duke's record books, as she became the first Blue Devil to send out two grand slams in a game while setting the single-game RBI record with eight against North Dakota State last season. Gold helped lead Duke to its first Women's College World Series appearance in 2024 and scored the Blue Devils' lone run against No. 14 Alabama with a solo home run to left center field.
As a sophomore, Gold blasted 19 home runs on the year to set the single-season home runs record. She also holds the program's career home runs record with 54 long balls.
The recent graduate collected numerous accolades both on and off the field during her time with the Blue Devils. She is a three-time All-ACC and two-time NFCA All-Region selection. In the classroom, Gold has garnered both All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Honor Roll recognition.
