SPRINGFIELD, Pa.– Duke women's golf incoming freshman
Avery McCrery capped her summer this week with a championship as she teamed with PGA of America Golf Professional Ryan Rucinski to win the 2025 Philadelphia PGA Pro-Scratch Championship at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield.Â
Â
McCrery and Rucinski registered a team score of 12-under-par, 59. The event's format was Gross Four-Ball Stroke Play / Better Ball of Partners for 18 holes.
Â
Rucinski and McCrery combined for 12 birdies and an eagle. The eagle was Rucinski's hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole as he used a pitching wedge from 140 yards. McCrery, coming off her appearance in last week's U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon, set a new women's course record at Rolling Green with an 8-under-par 63. A native of Wilmington, Del., McCrery posted a bogey-free round with eight birdies.Â
Â
The 59 finished two strokes better than Jeff Fick and Dave Palumbo.Â
Â
McCrery will head to Durham this week to move in ahead of freshman orientation at Duke.Â
