BANDON, Ore.– A trio of Duke women's golfers –
Rianne Malixi,
Avery McCrery and
Andie Smith – will close the 2025 summer by competing in the U.S. Women's Amateur, which is being contested Aug. 4-10 at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon.
A field of 156 golfers will compete in the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur. All golfers will play 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying Monday and Tuesday. The top 64 golfers then move on to match play, which kicks off Wednesday with the first round. The round of 32 and 16 of match play takes place Thursday with the quarterfinals (Friday), semifinals (Saturday) and a 36-hole championship match Sunday.
An incoming freshman at Duke, Malixi defeated Asterisk Talley, 3&2, a year ago to capture the U.S. Women's Amateur title.
Malixi tees off beginning at 11:07 a.m. (ET) Monday, while Smith begins at 4:07 p.m., and McCrery opens at 4:18 p.m.
Duke has four golfers who have won the U.S. Women's Amateur.
Virada Nirapathpongporn won in 2003 at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pa., while
Amanda Blumenherst won in 2008 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.,
Hannah O'Sullivan won in 2015 at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore., and Malixi won in 2024 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
