DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's basketball program is once again partnering with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF), the V Foundation for Cancer Research and Duke Children's to host the fourth annual Dribble for Victory Over Cancer - presented by Nuna Baby - on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Â
Dribble for Victory Over Cancer will raise funds for pediatric cancer research at Duke Children's through the Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at the V Foundation.
Â
Registration opens at 9 a.m. at the Bostock Gate of Wallace Wade Stadium on Duke's campus, with the welcome ceremony and official Dribble tipoff beginning at 11 a.m. The welcome ceremony will introduce the day's 'honorary captains,' who are young cancer fighters and family members.
Participants will dribble a one-mile course alongside Duke men's basketball players, winding through campus landmarks. Following the Dribble, lunch generously provided by City Barbecue is available to all guests. Attendees are invited to watch the Duke versus North Carolina volleyball match at 2 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to create fundraising pages either as individuals or teams, with prizes awarded to the top fundraisers in each category. New this year, anyone who raises $1,000 or more will earn an exclusive opportunity to attend a Duke men's basketball practice at a future date.

"Marcelle and I are once again honored to take part in the Dribble for Victory Over Cancer event," said Duke men's basketball head coach
Jon Scheyer. "Each year, this day brings our program and the community together with incredible energy and purpose. It's inspiring to dribble alongside young cancer fighters and their families, while supporting the critical work of the V Foundation, Duke Children's and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. Together, we are making a meaningful impact in the fight against childhood cancer and moving closer to the day when every child has the chance to grow up cancer-free."
Â
Since its start in 2008, Dribble for Victory Over Cancer has raised more than $2.5 million to support groundbreaking childhood cancer research. Originally launched at UCLA and St. John's, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation partnered with the V Foundation in 2022 to bring The Dribble to new campuses, with Duke now hosting its fourth annual event. Â
Â
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Duke Basketball, Duke Children's and the V Foundation for Cancer Research at the 4th annual Dribble for Victory Over Cancer. This event unites athletes, families, and fans in a powerful way- dribbling together to raise critical funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research," said Danielle Fragalla, Chief Executive Officer at the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. "Funds raised at the Dribble for Victory Over Cancer directly support groundbreaking research that is transforming how childhood cancers are treated. From advancing new therapies to improving survivorship, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is committed to ensuring that all children have the best chance at a long, healthy life. Together with our partners and the Blue Devil community, we're making strides toward a future where this is possible."
While research has led to significant improvement in pediatric patient outcomes, cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children 19 years and younger, with more than 15,000 new diagnoses in the U.S. each year. Researchers are in critical need of funding to improve and customize treatments for young patients and their growing bodies. All event proceeds from Duke's Dribble for Victory Over Cancer will directly support pediatric cancer research at Duke Children's.
Â
"We are proud of this powerful partnership with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, Duke Men's Basketball, and Duke Children's that makes a direct impact for young cancer patients and families in the local Durham community," said Carrie Hodges Thomas, Senior Vice President of Partnerships at the V Foundation. "This event brings together high-energy fans who are harnessing their passion for a cause that saves lives, and their support will fund the best-of-the-best in cancer research."
