DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Monday that defensive lineman Dakota Quiñonez has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
Quiñonez played in 23 games with 10 starts for Dartmouth over the past four years, guiding the Big Green to a combined record of 24-16 with a share of the Ivy League crowns in 2023 and 2024. This fall, Dartmouth went 7-3 with a 4-3 Ivy mark.
A First Team All-Ivy selection in 2025, the 6-1, 285-pound Quiñonez started all 10 games. He finished the campaign with 46 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and four quarterback pressures. He was consistent all season, recording four or more tackles on seven occasions with a year-high nine against Yale. Quiñonez had one of his best efforts versus Princeton with three solo tackles, 1.0 sack and two quarterback pressures.
Quiñonez, a Moore, South Carolina, native, will have one season of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2026 campaign. He helped lead a 2025 Big Green defense that paced the Ivy League in rushing defense (109.30 yards/game) and stood 10th nationally. Quiñonez also helped Dartmouth's defense stand second in the league in red zone defense (.763) and sacks per game (2.00).
In 2024, Quiñonez experienced action in all 10 games and booked three tackles with one each versus Harvard, Princeton and Brown. He added a caused fumble against Princeton. During the 2023 campaign, Quiñonez played in two games, against Princeton and Cornell, with a stop versus Princeton. He made his debut in 2022 with one appearance versus Yale and was the recipient of the Scout Team Award on defense.
During his Big Green career, Quiñonez totaled 50 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one caused fumble and four quarterback pressures.
