DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's golf head coach
Dan Brooks is one of 20 watch list selections for the 2025-26 Division I Jackie Steinmann Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride, as announced by the WGCA Monday afternoon.
Recognized as the highest annual coaching honor in women's collegiate golf, the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride is awarded annually to the top coach in Division I, II, III, and NAIA women's golf. The award recipient will be announced after the Division I Women's NCAA Championship.
Other coaches on the list include Kim Lewellen (Wake Forest University), Josh Brewer (Eastern Michigan University), Aimee Neff (University of North Carolina), Casey Vandamme (Kent State University), Gerrod Chadwell (Texas A&M University), Laura Ianello (University of Texas), Shauna Estes-Taylor (University of Arkansas), Christie Martens (Iowa State University), Caroline Westrup (University of Missouri), Emily Glaser (University of Florida), Melissa Luellen (Auburn University), Greg Allen (Vanderbilt University), Emily Marron (University of Central Florida), Diana Cantu (University of Tennessee), Anne Walker (Stanford University), Justin Silverstein (University of Southern California), Derek Radley (University of Oregon), Laurie Gibbs (Pepperdine University) and Alicia Um Holmes (UCLA).
Brooks, who is in his 42nd season as Duke's head coach, has led the Blue Devils to one victory and seven top-4 finishes on the season. Duke carded a 13-under-par, 851, to win the Windy City Collegiate Classic in the fall with rounds of 283, 287 and 281. Over the last four events this spring, Duke has turned in a runner-up (The Old Barnwell Derby Match Play), tied for third (Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate), fourth-place (Darius Rucker Intercollegiate) and a semifinal appearance in the ACC Championship.
As a team, Duke is currently ranked No. 10 nationally and features four golfers in the top-100 of the individual rankings –
Rianne Malixi (7),
Katie Li (45),
Andie Smith (77) and
Avery McCrery (100).
Brooks, a seven-time National Coach of the Year honoree, is the NCAA all-time leader in victories with 145, while leading the Blue Devils to seven NCAA Championships and 21 ACC Championships.
The Blue Devils are seeded No. 2 in the upcoming Ann Arbor Regional, which will take place May 11-13.
