DURHAM, N.C. — With preseason practice set to start in nearly a month, Duke women's soccer head coach
Kieran Hall announced Friday the signing of
Yuna Marui of Osaka, Japan.
Marui has been a mainstay with Japan's national teams throughout her development, competing for the U-17, U-16 and U-14 women's national teams. She was also invited to the U-13 Women's National Training Center and the U-12 Men's National Training Center as well. Marui competed in the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India and helped her squad reach the quarterfinals.
The 5-3 midfielder recently competed with the Cerezo Osaka Yanmar Ladies in the WE League in 2024-25, which is Japan's top professional league. She also participated in the Plenus Nadeshiko League (Division I) in 2022-23 and the Plenus Challenge League in 2019-20.
With the Cerezo Osaka Yanmar Girls U-18 squad from 2021-24, Marui participated in the U-18 Summer Girls National Championship and helped lead her team to the U-18 Winter and Summer Girls National Championships in 2022. She also won the U-18 Winter Girls National Championship in 2024 and was the runner-up in the U-18 Summer Girls National Championship in 2023.
Marui helped her Cerezo Osaka Yanmar Girls U-15 teams win the U-15 Girls National Championship in 2018, finish as runner-up in 2019 and reach the quarterfinals in 2020.
