Chad Mays joined the Duke Athletics staff in June 2026 as a Communications Coordinator. In his role, he serves as the primary media contact for volleyball and swimming and diving and the secondary contact for women’s basketball.

Prior to his arrival at Duke, Mays was an assistant director of communications at Army West Point, serving as the media relations liaison for the women's basketball, men's soccer, cross country/track & field, men's tennis and women's rugby programs. He managed the programs’ social media accounts as well as gameday operations and statistics.

Mays spent two years as a graduate assistant at Troy, leading the media relations efforts for the men’s basketball, volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis programs. He also produced a wide range of written content for his teams.

Mays graduated from Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in May 2023. He added a master’s in strategic communications from Troy in May 2025.
