Jordan Busse enters his fourth year as the physical therapist and assistant athletic trainer for the women’s basketball program at Duke. Busse’s responsibilities include implementing a screening process for each sport to drive injury prevention and sport performance strategies, daily rehabilitation and team travel.
Prior to joining the women’s basketball program, Busse worked as a staff outreach therapist at Duke Sports Medicine since 2013. His responsibilities included working in the outpatient clinic and providing physical therapy services to student athletes from Cedar Ridge High School and Elon University.
Beginning in 2015, Busse has worked for Elon Athletics. He was responsible for testing the status of an athlete’s ability to return to play, consulting with head athletic trainers to develop a plan to care for athletes with orthopedic injuries and helping to improve outcomes following orthopedic surgeries for all athletes.
As an undergrad at Concordia University Wisconsin, Busse served as an athletic training student, working as the head student athletic trainer for the university’s football team and managing clinical rotations across a wide variety of sports.
During his junior year, Busse participated in an athletic training student internship for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. While working with the Bucks, Busse assisted in providing basic health care for the professional athletes at practices and home games and managed medical and athletic training supplies.
Busse earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2009. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Elon University in 2012. In addition to his educational experience, Busse is also a Sports Certified Specialist and an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor as well as having received his National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification and his American Heart Association CPR/AED certification.
Busse currently resides in Hillsborough, N.C., with his wife, Whitney, and daughters, MaryCarol, who was born on Nov. 1, 2016 and Adeyln, born July 14, 2019.
