Since joining Duke Athletics as an Academic Coordinator in 2023, Kiefer Bribiesca has been instrumental in providing comprehensive academic support for the football program, focusing on guiding student-athletes in course selection, NCAA eligibility and the integration of their curricular and co-curricular experiences. His role is central to ensuring student-athletes understand and navigate both institutional and NCAA policies effectively.
Before his current role at Duke, Bribiesca was an Academic Counselor at Kansas State University. There, he managed the academic coordination of 65 football and 10 men's golf student-athletes. His responsibilities included monitoring academic progress, assisting in class and major selection and conducting regular meetings with a diverse group of student-athletes. He was instrumental in liaising with on-campus advisors, managing priority registration and overseeing graduation requirements.
Earlier in his career, Bribiesca served as an Academic Services Assistant at the University of Kentucky. In this capacity, he played a significant role in overseeing the academic progress of student-athletes from various sports. His background also includes positions as an Assistant Football Strength and Conditioning Coach at both the University of Wyoming and Duke University. Additionally, he gained valuable experience through internships focusing on football strength and conditioning at Ohio State University and the University of Hawai'i.
A native of Holcomb, Kan., Bribiesca holds a Master of Science in Adult Learning and Leadership from Kansas State and a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Physiology, Summa Cum Laude, from Washburn University, where he was also a member of the football team.
