Meredith Rieder joined the Duke staff in August of 2008 and serves as a Senior Associate Director of Communications. Prior to her current position, she spent seven years as an Assistant SID before being elevated to Associate Director of Sports Information in July of 2015.
Rieder’s primary responsibilities include handling media relations for the field hockey, men’s lacrosse and fencing programs, and is the secondary contact for women's basketball. She had previously handled media relations for men’s soccer and wrestling, in addition to her work with men's lacrosse.
Rieder came to Duke after serving as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Colgate University for three years. A native of Columbus, Ohio, she handled the day-to-day media relations duties for the volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse and men and women’s track and cross country teams at Colgate.
She also served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for three years at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y.
A four-year member of the women’s soccer team at Denison, Rieder was a four-time all-region selection, earned All-America honors as a senior and helped guide the Big Red to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2015, she was inducted into Denison’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Rieder graduated cum laude from Denison University in 2002 with a degree in communication and French. Â
Rieder is a former member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee.
