Meadows, a native of Oxford, N.C., was a two-time first team All-America selection on the gridiron in 1952-53. In his two seasons, Meadows helped the Blue Devils to an overall ledger of 15-4-1 with a pair of league championships (Southern Conference in 1952; Atlantic Coast Conference in 1953) and final Associated Press national rankings of No. 16 in 1952 and No. 18 in 1953. He also was named to the Silver Anniversary All-ACC team and represented Duke in the Senior Bowl prior to being a third round selection of the Chicago Bears in the 1954 NFL Draft. Meadows will be enshrined posthumously after passing away in 1974.
