Junior forward Sarah Pickens (Greensboro, N.C.) was the only Blue Devil named to the first team as she led Duke in scoring with nine goals and two assists for 20 points. Pickens has started in all 19 games for the Blue Devils and has scored four game-winning goals. Pickens was also featured in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the October 23rd issue of Sports Illustrated after scoring the game-winning goal against Clemson on Oct. 7.
Senior Kim Daws (Northridge, Calif.), sophomore Carly Fuller (Portland, Ore.), and freshman Gwendolyn Oxenham (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) were selected to the ACC second team. Freshman Thora Helgadottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) and Oxenham were also selected to the 2000 ACC All-Freshmen team.
Duke (12-6-1) advanced to the semifinals of the 2000 ACC Women's Soccer Championship on Thursday as they defeated Virginia 4-3 in penalty kicks. Third-seeded Duke will take on top-seeded Clemson tonight in the semifinals at 8 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium.
