Christian Smith Named to Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team

Freshman 125-pounder Christian Smith was named to the Amateur Wrestling News' 2003-04 All-Rookie Team after a strong freshman campaign.

A freshman from Chesapeake, Va., Smith finished his inaugural season with a 30-12 record, ranking tied for fifth on Duke's single season wins list. Smith won the ACC title at 125 pounds and recorded four top-five tournament finishes. He capped his rookie season by advancing to the NCAA Championships.

Smith was one of just three ACC wrestlers to make the 50-member AWN All-Rookie team, joining 197-pounder Zach Garren of N.C. State and 165-pounder Zac Fryling of Virginia.
