DURHAM, N.C. ? The Duke wrestling team will be back in action on Sunday as they hit the mats to compete in the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia, Pa. The 11th annual Keystone Classic, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, will feature ten schools competing for team and individual honors.
The Blue Devils will be joined by host Penn, Appalachian State, American University, Boston University, Brown, Rider, Virginia, Virginia Military Institute and Wagner at the Keystone Classic.
Duke posted four top-five finishes at last year's Keystone Classic, highlighted by a third-place finish from junior Bryan Gibson and fourth-place finishes from senior Levi Craig and sophomore Wes Kuser.
The Blue Devils posted four top-ten finishes at the UNC Pembroke Open last weekend, highlighted by two second-place finishes from senior Scott Doerr and freshman Wade Van Sickle. The Blue Devils then went 0-3 at the MatJam Duals on Sunday, falling to No. 22 Tennessee-Chattanooga, 32-3, Appalachian State, 21-16, and VMI, 22-15.
At the UNC Pembroke Open, Doerr captured his second-place finish at 165 pounds while Van Sickle finished second in the heavyweight division. Freshman John Barone notched a fourth-place finish at 174 pounds and freshman Mike Tunick placed sixth in the heavyweights.
After the Keystone Classic, the Duke wrestling team will compete at the UNC Open in Chapel Hill on Saturday, Nov. 26.
