Duke Grapplers Return To Action At Southern Scuffle On Thursday

DURHAM, N.C. ? The Duke wrestling team will return to action on Thursday, competing at the 2005 Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C. The two-day tournament, which will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum, will be hosted by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and will feature more than 500 wrestlers from 31 schools.

Six nationally-ranked teams and 58 individuals ranked in the Top 20 of their respective weight classes are tentatively slated to participate in the Southern Scuffle. Among the 31 teams to appear at the Southern Scuffle are third-ranked Minnesota, eighth-ranked Cornell and ninth-ranked Lehigh. No. 13 Missouri, No. 19 Edinboro and No. 24 Navy will also compete in the tournament.

A live webcast will be available for the 2005 Southern Scuffle through www.UNCGSpartans.com and www.SouthernScuffle.com. In-depth coverage of the Southern Scuffle will be provided both days with up to 10 mats hosting matches simultaneously. Tournament committee members will schedule feature matches on three specific mats in order to accommodate the webcast coverage. Up-to-the-minute results for all 10 weight classes will be available at www.SouthernScuffle.com throughout the two-day tournament.

After the Southern Scuffle, Duke will have a two-match dual meet on Jan. 9, squaring off against The Citadel and Campbell in Charleston, S.C.
