DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke wrestling squad will hold its final home event of the 2004-05 season tonight in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils will host Campbell and Duquesne, beginning at 7 p.m. The event will mark the final home appearance for seniors Frank Cornely, Andrew Herbert and Steve Smith and will feature action on two mats.
Cornely currently sits tied for fourth (Mike Darlington) in Duke history in wins with 91 and could tie Tom Cass for third with a pair of wins tonight.
Duke currently holds a dual-match record of 6-4 and, with two wins tonight, would secure a winning record heading into the ACC Tournament on March 5 in Greensboro. The Blue Devils are coming off a dominant 36-4 victory at Gardner-Webb over the weekend in which they won nine of the 10 matches, including back-to-back pins by Cornely at 184 and Mark Thompson at 197.
The Blue Devils faced Campbell on Jan. 8 and picked up a 47-0 victory. Cornely and Herbert recorded pins, Adam Lesser won via a tech fall and Bryan Gibson, Daniel Shvartsman and Thompson all picked up major decisions. Duke last faced Duquesne on Jan. 10 of last season, notching a 27-9 victory.
Duke has two conference match-ups remaining: at Virginia on Feb. 18 and at N.C. State on Feb. 23.
