With its 73-62 loss to No. 13 Marquette in the finals of the 2006 CBE Classic, Duke falls to 4-1 on the season and suffers its first November loss in 14 games dating back to a 78-68 loss to Purdue on Nov. 29, 2003, in the finals of the Great Alaska Shootout.
Duke's 11 point loss is its worst since a 94-80 loss at Wake Forest on Feb. 13, 2003. It also marks just Duke's eighth loss this decade by double figures (a total of 251 games).
Tonight was the sixth meeting between Duke and Marquette. Duke is now 4-2 against the Golden Eagles and 2-1 under Coach K. Duke is also now 98-41 against current members of the Big East conference.

After David McClure got an offensive put back at the 5:49 mark to tie the game at 58-58, Duke was unable to score for the next 4:39 while Marquette went on an 11-0 run. McClure finished the game a perfect 3-of-3 from the field and hit his second career three-pointer which tied the game at 41-41 early in the second half.
After shooting sub-70 percent from the free throw line through the first four games of the season (69-of-101 - .683), the Blue Devils connected on 17-of-18 (.944) from the line against Marquette.
Junior DeMarcus Nelson earned all-tournament mention by scoring 11 of Duke's first 16 points in the opening 5:45 of the game and finishing with 13 points to record his fifth double-figure scoring game of the season and 20th of his career.
Sophomore Josh McRoberts struggled from the field (4-of-15) but led Duke with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocked shotd. It marked the first time in his career McRoberts has scored in double figures and the Blue Devils have lost.
Freshman Lance Thomas finished with nine points and an early season/career high of seven rebounds against Marquette. Three of his rebounds were offensive rebounds.
Freshman Brian Zoubek recorded a perfect shooting night against the Golden Eagles, hitting all three of his field goals and both of his free throws for eight points.
