With its 75-47 win over Davidson, Duke improves to 5-1 on the season and improves its all-time record to 85-17 against the Wildcats. Duke holds a 30-1 advantage over Davidson at Cameron Indoor Stadium and has won 20 straight with 13 of those 20 coming at home. Duke also improves to 136-24 against current members of the Southern Conference, including 3-0 this season, and Duke is 41-2 under Coach K against the SoCon and has won 41 straight.
Duke has now held four of its six opponents to less than 50 points. Duke's four games is the second most amount of games holding its opponent under 50 points under coach Mike Krzyzewski, as the 1982, '98 and 2005 teams all had five such games. Duke also has held its opponents under 20 points in a half three times this season, including a Duke opponent low 18 in the first half against Davidson.
Duke has now won 44 straight non-conference home games, the second-longest streak in Duke history and third longest active streak in the country. Illinois currently has the longest such streak with 51 straight including five wins so far this season while Oklahoma extended its streak to 48 games after winning in former Blue Devil Jeff Capel's first couple home games as the Sooner head coach. Duke has also won 174 of its last 177 non-conference home games.
Duke out-rebounded Davidson 41-34 and continued its streak of grabbing more rebounds than its opponents in every game this season. On the season, Duke has 229 rebounds compared to 168 for its opponents, an average of 38.2 to 28.0 and a +10.2 rebounding margin.
Duke shot 24-of-46 (.522) from the field against Davidson and has now shot above 50 percent in five of six games this season. For the season, Duke is shooting 152-of-294 (.517), which would be its highest shooting percentage since 1991-92 (.536).
Freshman Jon Scheyer scored 14 points while hitting 3-of-4 from behind the arc and 5-of-9 from the free throw line. He added three rebounds and a steal in 28 minutes. It marked his fourth game scoring in double-figures.
Scheyer hit his first three free throws of the game extending his streak to 14 before his first miss of the season at the 3:17 mark of the first half. His 14 consecutive free throws to start his career is the highest mark in Duke history. Steve Gray hit his first 10 career free throws to start off the 1975-76 season.
Sophomore David McClure had another solid game off the bench for the Blue Devils, recording a game-high four steals while scoring eight points and pulling down three rebounds. McClure now has a team-leading 14 steals this season, averaging 2.33 per game.
Sophomore Josh McRoberts hit 5-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line to score 14 points and he added nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks. On the season, he is averaging 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.5 blocks per game. McRoberts reached double figures for the third time this season and 18th of his career and Duke is 17-1 when he reaches double-figures.
Freshman Gerald Henderson reached double figures for the third time this season with 10 points and he added three rebounds and two assists in his second career start while playing 25 minutes.
Freshman Brian Zoubek scored 12 points and tied his season/career high with seven rebounds for the Blue Devils. It marked his third career double-figure scoring game.
Sophomore Greg Paulus had six assists against just two turnovers versus Davidson. Through the first five games of the year, Paulus had 22 assists against 21 turnovers.
Walk-ons Steve Johnson and Nick Sutton both saw their first collegiate action against Davidson, each playing two minutes. Johnson recorded a blocked shot.
Saturday marked the 243rd consecutive sell out at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
