Duke boasts several former women's athletes currently playing in professional leagues in the United States and abroad. Here's what they've been up to lately!
Jessica Foley has earned a starting slot with the Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL (Australian professional league.) With over 144 points on the season so far, Foley has been vying for a place on the league's top-ten scoring list.
Meanwhile, in the Israeli Women's League, former Duke star Monique Currie is starting for Elizur Ramla, where she's helped her team to an 8-1 record. Currie has averaged 23.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.0 steals in Israeli League play, and was named the Round 3 MVP in league play.
Currie was named to the All-Rookie WNBA team after a strong first season with the Charlotte Sting. Starting 33 of 34 games played, Currie registered 339 in her rookie season. She continues to hold Duke's all-time single game points record (43, vs. Miami, 2-19-06) and shares the single game assists record (12) vs. Georgia Tech in 2004.
Mistie Williams, who was drafted by the Houston Comets in 2006, is currently playing in the Italian League during the WNBA offseason. Starting all nine of the Maddaloni's games this fall, Williams has averaged 16.8 points and nine rebounds per game this season. The Maddaloni regular season runs October 7 through April 22.
In the Turkish Women's Basketball League (TBBL), former Duke teammates Sheana Mosch and Wynter Whitley have teamed up for Turkey's BOTAŞ SPOR KUL?B?.
In 2005-2006, Mosch was named to Eurobasket.com's All-Import team. She recently led Botas to a 98-79 victory over Ted Kayseri Koleji with 15 points, and has averaged 17.8 points on the season.
