Duke improved to 2-1 in the series against Rutgers and picked up its first win at Rutgers in the series (1-1). The last two victories against the Scarlet Knights have been by 38 points (74-36) and 40 points (85-45).
The Blue Devils improved to 3-0 in the Jimmy V Classic with victories of 21 vs. Tennessee, 30 vs. Purdue and 40 vs. Rutgers.
Each of Duke's 10 players scored on the night for the seventh straight game this year.
Duke held its opponent to 50 points or under in each of the first seven games to open the season.
With the victory, Duke improved to 7-0 on the season. It marked the sixth time under Head Coach Gail Goestenkors and ninth time overall Duke has began the season 7-0.
For the seventh consecutive game, Duke held its opponent to under 30.0 percent shooting from the field.
Duke improved to 51-18 against ranked opponents over the last seven years and 1-0 this season. The Blue Devils will play 11th-ranked Vanderbilt and 22nd-ranked Texas to conclude the week on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.
For the seventh straight contest, sophomore Abby Waner scored double-figures as she finished with 21 points, becoming the first Duke player to score 20 points this season. She also recorded a career high nine field goals.
Alison Bales scored double-figures for the third consecutive contest as she posted 11 points. Bales also blocked three shots and had eight rebounds.
Senior Lindsey Harding matched a career high with two treys in the first half and went on to finish 2-of-2 from downtown in the contest. Harding matched a season and career high with 19 points in the game. She also had three assists and one block.
Playing in her home state of New Jersey, freshman Bridgette Mitchell came off the bench to score six straight points for the Blue Devils late in the first half. For the game, Mitchell had six points.
With her three blocks on the night, Alison Bales moved into 25th place on the NCAA all-time blocked shots list with 319.
After hitting only two three-pointers last game against Old Dominion, Duke came out and hit four in the first half against Rutgers.
Sophomore Carrem Gay matched a career high with two blocks in the first half to go along with eight rebounds and two points. She finished the game with 10 rebounds marking the second time this season and her career she has posted double-figure rebounds.
Duke moved up one spot to No. 4 in the Associated Press poll released on Monday, while Rutgers fell one spot to No. 19.
Duke will next host Vanderbilt on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7:00 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
