Earlier in the day, Duke returned to No. 1 in the Associated Press poll receiving 23 first place votes. The Blue Devils were ranked first in the first three AP polls until Tennessee jumped in front on Dec. 5.
Duke won its 14th straight game against Maryland and 17 out of the last 18.
The Blue Devils improved to 82-7 over the last six years against ACC opponents in the regular season and 94-8 including the ACC Tournament.
In the first half, Duke trailed 39-29 with 1:43 remaining, which was the largest deficit of the season. The Blue Devils also trailed 43-33 at the 19-minute mark of the second half.
Senior Mistie Williams continued her stellar play on the night as she posted her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Duke finished with a season-low nine turnovers.
At the 13:30 mark of the second half, Blue Devil junior point guard Lindsey Harding suffered a left shoulder contusion and was taken out of the game. Duke was leading 48-46 at the time of the injury. She left the game after dishing out a team-best six assists and scoring seven points.
After having one of the worst scoring games of her career on Friday against Virginia, senior Monique Currie rebounded to score 14 points in the first half for the Blue Devils on 7-of-9 shooting. She finished the game with a career-high 31 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
Monique Currie posted her seventh 20-plus scoring game of the season and fifth against ACC opponents with her 31 points. Her 13 field goals were a career high as well as her 21 field goal attempts.
With her 31 points, Monique Currie moved into 19th place on the ACC career scoring list.
Duke was outrebounded 18-16 in the first half, but finished the game with a 44-35 rebounding advantage. Maryland led the NCAA in rebounding advantage prior to the game with Duke ranking No. 2.
Jessica Foley totaled her third double-figure scoring game of the season with 12 points.
Duke trailed at the end of the first half (41-33) for only the second time this season (Boston College).
The Blue Devils were 0-7 from three-point land in the first half, marking the first time this season Duke has not hit a three-pointer in the first 20 minutes of action. Duke went 0-12 until hitting the first three-pointer at the 6:58 mark of the second half. The Blue Devils hit 3-of-4 three-pointers down the stretch.
Duke scored 90 or more points for the 12th time this season.
The Blue Devils will next travel to Miami for a 4:00 p.m. game on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Coral Gables, Fla.
