DURHAM, N.C. ? Joshua Medcalf of the Duke soccer team has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week.
Medcalf, a graduate student who transferred from Vanderbilt this year, scored three goals and added an assist in three matches last week.
Medcalf scored Duke's only goal in a 1-1 tie with fourth-ranked Virginia Tech. Two nights later at Virginia, he scored the game-tying goal with 1:52 remaining in regulation, then assisted on the game-winner in double-overtime as the Blue Devils pulled out a 2-1 ACC victory.
Medcalf then closed the week by scoring his sixth goal of the season in a 3-0 victory over Cleveland State. Medcalf also was named ACC player of the week for his efforts.
The Blue Devils, now 9-5-1, play their final regular season home match this weekend, hosting Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
