Duke returned to action after last playing on Dec. 21 against Bucknell, winning 92-49.
Duke had all 12 players available in the game for the first time since the Connecticut game on Nov. 25. It was the third time this season the Blue Devils have had all 12 players available (Denver, Connecticut, Houston).
For the first time this season, Duke began the game with the same starting lineup for the third straight game. The Blue Devils had not started the same lineup in more than two consecutive games this year.
The Blue Devils shot 48.6 percent from the field in the first half, which is the second-highest total in the first stanza this season (50.0% vs. Temple is season-high).
In her return home to Houston, freshman Karima Christmas played 15 minutes, had six points, one assist and one steal. She left at the end of the game with a wrist injury and will be receive an x-ray when the Blue Devils return to campus.
Duke collected 84 points, which marks the third straight game the Blue Devils have scored 80 or more points. On the season, Duke has posted 80 or more points in six games.
With her 23 minutes played in the game, senior Wanisha Smith became the 16th player in Duke history to go over the 3,000 minutes played mark.
Duke outrebounded Houston, 48-35. The Blue Devils have now outrebounded opponents in two straight games and six times out of 13 games.
Freshman Jasmine Thomas collected double-figure scoring for the sixth time this season and the second game in a row as she finished with 11 points in 27 minutes. She also had two rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist.
Duke improves to 2-0 in the overall series with Houston.
Senior Wanisha Smith had a season-high six assists in the first half and went on to finish the contest with eight.
Junior Carrem Gay came off the bench in the first half and registered six points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes. She finished the game with eight points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in 29 minutes.
With her eight assists on the day, Wanisha Smith moved into sole possession of fifth place on Duke's all-time assist chart with 436.
Sophomore Joy Cheek registered 14 points, which marks the fourth straight game she has posted double-figure scoring. She also totaled 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Cheek played 21 minutes, had one steal, one block and one steal.
For the 11th time this season, junior Chante Black registered double-figure scoring as she totaled 12 points to go along with seven rebounds, two steals and one assist in only 18 minutes.
Duke registered 22 of 31 free throws in the contest, which are the second-most made and attempted in a game this season.
The Blue Devils hit 71.0 percent from the free throw line marking the fourth time this season Duke has shot over 70.0 percent in a game this year.
Freshman Krystal Thomas made her return to the court after missing five games with a knee injury. She posted six points and four rebounds in 12 minutes.
Duke will next return home to host N.C. Central on Jan. 3, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
