With her two blocks, junior Chante Black moved into tied for 22nd place on the ACC career blocked shots list with 153.
After hitting one of her last 11 three-pointers, freshman Jasmine Thomas hit 2-of-5 in the game to finish with a career-high tying 17 points. Her double-figure scoring mark the seventh time she has posted double-figures this season.
Senior Wanisha Smith hit 3-of-7 from three-point land on her way to scoring a season-high points on the night. It marked the second time out of the last three games she has hit three or more three-pointers. She scored double-figures for the fourth time this season out of 12 games.
The loss snaps an eight-game overall winning streak this season.
Duke lost in College Park, Md., for the first time since Jan. 30, 1998, which broke a streak of nine-straight wins. The Blue Devils lost to the Terrapins for only the third time over the last 19 games.
Duke allowed season highs in free throws made (33) and attempted (42).
Maryland outrebounded Duke, 43-42. The Blue Devils had outrebounded its opponents five consecutive games heading into tonight.

Junior Abby Waner collected 11 points in the first half marking the second time out of seven career games she has posted double-figure scoring against Maryland. She went on to finish the game with 15 points, four assists, seven rebounds and five steals. She has now scored double-figures in eight of her 13 games played.
Duke was down 17-4 early in the first half marking the 10th time out of 17 contests the Blue Devils have been down early in contests.
Senior Wanisha Smith and sophomore Joy Cheek made homecomings on the evening. Smith attended Riverdale Baptist H.S. in Upper Marlboro, Md., and Cheek grew up in Hyattsville, Md., until she was 12. Both of Cheek's parents grew up in Washington, D.C.
With her five steals, Abby Waner moved into ninth place on Duke's all-time career steals list with 184.
On Monday, Duke returned to the top 10 of the Associated Press poll after a seven-week absence. The Blue Devils are listed No. 10 in the poll. Duke had been ranked in the top 10 of the AP poll for 107 straight weeks prior to dropping to No. 11 on Nov. 27. Since falling to No. 17 on Dec. 4, the Blue Devils have moved up at least one spot each week before remaining at No. 12 the last two weeks.
Duke held Maryland to nine assists while forcing 18 turnovers.
After hitting 1-of-12 from three-point land in the last game against Florida State, Duke hit 3-of-10 treys in the first half and finished the game hitting six treys out of 20 attempts.
The Blue Devils were limited to 11 of 12 players on the night with Brittany Mitch missing the game with a hyperextended knee. Duke has had the services of all 12 players for only five games this season.
Duke will next return home to host N.C. State on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at 1:00 PM in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Lindsey Harding, who garnered both National Player of the Year and National Defensive Player of the Year honors last season will get her jersey retired at halftime.
