DURHAM, N.C.?Duke wrestling hits the road again this weekend, heading to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the Navy Classic on Nov. 22. The tournament features some of the top talent from the mid Atlantic and southeast regions, which includes nine individually ranked athletes.
The action at Halsey Field House kicks off at 9 a.m., with the semifinals coming at 3:30 p.m., and the finals closing out the event at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $6 for adults and $3 for students in high school or younger.
The field features 13 teams, including No. 21 Navy and No. 25 West Virginia. There are nine individually ranked athletes in the field from six of the weight classes and 21 place winners from the 2007 Navy Classic.
Junior John Baronet headlines the Blue Devil squad at 184 pounds. Baronet climbed to No. 19 in the rankings after capturing the title at the Hokier Open. He is undefeated on the year with an 11-0 record and two tournament championships.
Also sporting an unbeaten record for Duke is redshirt junior heavyweight Konrad Dudziak. He joins Barone as Duke's other double winner this year, winning the heavyweight championships in the Wolfpack Open and Hokie Open.
The Blue Devils have received quality performances from a host of other athletes this season. Redshirt sophomore Jared Sernoffsky heads into the weekend with a 10-2 mark on the year. He recently took third at the Hokie Open at 157 pounds after winning the Citadel Open. Junior Voris Tejada is 9-4 at 174 pounds.
Redshirt freshman Dan Adamo leads the squad at 149 pounds with a 7-1 record and a tournament title. Duke's Peter Terrezza is tops at 125 pounds, going 9-5 through the first two weekends and placing at the Citadel Open.
The Blue Devils take a week off from action before hitting the mats again on Dec. 6 at the Davidson Open.
