DURHAM, N.C.?After a 12-day layoff for final exams, the Duke University wrestling team returns to action at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 18. The Blue Devils make the trip to Reno, Nev., for the annual tournament, which features top teams and individuals from around the country. Action begins at 9:30 a.m. (PT), at the Reno Events Center.
Ten Blue Devils will hit the mats in Reno against teams from all over the country. Headlining the squad is the undefeated duo of juniors John Barone and Konrad Dudziak at 184 pounds and heavyweight, respectively.
Barone sports a 15-0 record and has four tournament titles to his name. Ranked 19th in the most recent USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I poll, he most recently captured top honors at the Davidson Open. He has two falls and five technical falls on the year.
Voted to the No. 15 spot in the poll, Dudziak is 14-0 on the year and last won the Navy Classic. He defeated then No. 5 and current No. 9 Scott Steele in the championship match in Annapolis. For the season he has three falls and four major decisions.
Junior Voris Tejada lines up at 174 pounds for the Blue Devils after taking home runner-up honors at the Davidson Open. He sports a 13-7 overall record and 10-7 mark in tournament action.
Peter Terrezza looks to improve upon his 10-7 mark at 125 pounds, while Dan Adamo will compete in the 149-pound division with a 9-3 mark. Terrezza most recently took third place at the Davidson Open after registering three consecutive falls. Dan Adamo has one title to his name this season and last competed at the Navy Classic in November.
Rookie Jack Anderson will represent the Blue Devils at 133 pounds. He is 4-6 overall on the year and has three falls. Seeing action for the first time this season, Anthony Jorge lines up at 141 pounds for the Blue Devils in Reno.
Coming off of a month-long layoff, sophomore Jared Sernoffsky gets back in action at 157 pounds. He last competed at the Hokie Open in November, taking home third place. He is 10-2 overall on the year.
Rounding out the Duke contingency will be Addison Nuding at 165 pounds and Dan Tulley in the 197-pound division. Nuding is 7-4 overall on the season and most recently competed in the Hokie Open, while Tulley is 1-2 after opening the season at the Wolfpack Open.
