CLEMSON, S.C. - Led by 15 points from Abby Waner and Joy Cheek, 12th-ranked Duke downed Clemson, 83-54, on Wednesday night in ACC action at Littlejohn Coliseum. The win improves Duke to 19-6 and 8-2 in the ACC as the Blue Devils won their 11th-straight over the Lady Tigers. Duke has now won 93 out of its last 100 ACC regular season contests.
Waner hit four three-pointers, while the Blue Devils hit 49.2 percent of their field goals on the evening which was the third-highest percentage of the season. The Lady Tigers were held to 29.0 percent shooting for the contest.
Cheek posted double-figure scoring for the 14th time this season and finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, while junior Chante Black added 14 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and three assists in 25 minutes for Duke.
Duke took a 4-0 lead to start the game, but Clemson went on a 12-0 run to take a 12-4 lead at the 15:25 mark as the Blue Devils were held without a field goal for 5:17. Duke responded with a 16-0 run to take a 20-12 lead at 7:07 and went on to outscore Clemson, 36-5, in the final 13:24, to lead 40-17 at the break.
Duke shot 53.6 percent for the stanza and held Clemson to 19.4 percent shooting.
Both Waner and Black had stellar first halves, as Waner scored 12 points and connected on three consecutive hits from downtown, marking the first time she has had three or more treys in a game since Dec. 21 against Bucknell. She also had four steals for the half and went on to finish the game with five take-aways, three assists and three rebounds.
Black went 5-for-5 from the field in the initial stanza to tally 10 points and also recorded three blocks, three assists and four rebounds, and sophomore Bridgette Mitchell came off the bench to spark Duke's 16-0 run with six points in that span, as she would finish the half with seven points and three rebounds in 10 minutes of action.
The second half saw Duke out-score Clemson, 43-37, as the Blue Devils shot 45.5 percent from the floor and held the Lady Tigers to 39.4 percent shooting.
Cheek netted 10 of her 15 points and pulled down seven boards over the final 20 minutes of play to lead the Blue Devils for the stanza.

The Duke bench scored 43 points to Clemson's 20 bench points and also held a 40-24 points in the paint advantage. The Blue Devils out-rebounded the Lady Tigers, 54-34, and forced 20 Clemson turnovers, marking the 18th time this season the Blue Devils have forced their opponents to commit 20 or more turnovers.
Duke will next host fourth-ranked Maryland on Sunday, Feb. 17 for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Fox Sports Net at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
