Wrestling Hosts Davidson in Home Debut Tonight

DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University wrestling team makes its home debut tonight in a dual match with Davidson College in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The first bout is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Blue Devils will be competing in their first dual match of the year, while the Wildcats come to Cameron with an 0-4 record after losing four matches at the Sprawl and Brawl. Duke most recently competed in the NC State Open and Keystone Classic on Nov. 21 and 22, respectively.

Duke has won the past two and six of the last seven matches against the Wildcats. The Blue Devils defeated Davidson 25-13 last year, while the Wildcats last defeated Duke in 2007 in Durham.

Headlining the lineup for the Blue Devils is a pair of nationally-ranked wrestlers. Redshirt senior Konrad Dudziak is the nation's top-ranked heavyweight and sports an unblemished 7-0 mark this season. Ranked 15th at 184 pounds, redshirt senior John Barone will line up at 197 pounds this week. He is 5-2 on the year and has wrestled at 197 pounds in his two tournaments.

Redshirt freshman Diego Bencomo will be competing in his first collegiate dual match for the Blue Devils at 184 pounds. He is 10-3 overall on the season and is coming off of a fifth-place showing at the Keystone Classic.

The 149-pound division will feature either freshman Brent Jorge or redshirt freshman Dak Adamson. Jorge has lost just once this season and is 14-1 overall, while Adamson went 5-1 for third-place honors at the Keystone Classic in his first action of the season.

Duke will take a long break before returning to action at the Southern Scuffle on Dec. 29-30.
