Blue Devils Hit the Road For Philly; Will Play at Temple on New Year's Eve...
The eighth-ranked Duke (10-2) women's basketball team will close out 2009 on Thursday, Dec. 31 with a road contest at Temple (10-2), which will be played at McGonigle Hall in Philadelphia, Pa., at 2:00 p.m.
Fans can hear the Blue Devils on the Duke ISP Radio Network on WDNC AM 620 with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) calling the action. The Blue Devils are currently ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press and No. 9 in the ESPN/USA Today Division I Coaches Polls, while Temple is unranked. Following the Temple contest, Duke will return home to host Providence on Sunday, Jan. 3 at 1:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Noting Duke...
The Blue Devils are the only team in the ACC to have beaten a ranked opponent this season (No. 3 Ohio State and No. 25 James Madison) ... Duke owns an all-time record of 5-0 in games played on New Year's Eve ... senior Joy Cheek is closing in on 1,000 career points as she now owns 933 for her career ... senior Bridgette Mitchell needs nine more points to reach 500 for her career ... Krystal Thomas needs four blocked shots to reach 100 for her career, which will mark the eighth player in Duke history with 100 or more blocks ... the Blue Devils hold a 466-164 points in the paint advantage on the year ... the Blue Devils have been listed in the top 25 of the AP poll for 194 straight weeks, which is the longest current streak in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and third nationally.
A Look At Temple...
Temple enters Thursday with a 10-2 overall record and winners of five out of its last six games. Shaqwedia Wallace (13.5 points and 3.8 rebounds), Kristen McCarthy (10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds) and LaKeisha Eaddy (8.2 points, 45 assists) have led the Owls so far on the season.
Head Coach Tonya Cardoza is in her second season as the head coach of Temple.
The Series With Temple...
Duke and Temple will meet for the fourth time in school history and first time in Philadelphia, Pa. The Blue Devils lead the overall series 4-0 with victories in 1998, two in 2007 and one last year.

Duke Versus the Atlantic 10...
The Blue Devils have competed against teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference a total of 33 times, while posting a 24-9 mark. Duke's last game against an Atlantic 10 team was on Nov. 23, 2009 against Charlotte. The Blue Devils won that game, 57-44, bringing their win streak against Atlantic 10 teams to 11 games in a row. The Blue Devils' last loss against this conference was in 1996 when they fell, 48-54, to George Washington in the ACC Big Four Classic in Greensboro, N.C.

Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
- So far this season, Duke owns a record of 2-2 on the road with wins at Houston Baptist and Maine. Four Blue Devils are averaging double-digit scoring on the road this year -- Jasmine Thomas (13.3), Joy Cheek (11.8), Karima Christmas (11.5) and Bridgette Mitchell (10.8).
- Junior Jasmine Thomas is one of only two ACC players to rank in the top 10 in the ACC in scoring, assists and steals, while also averaging over 5.0 rebounds a contest (Shenise Johnson - Miami).
- The Blue Devils are coming off hitting 52.5 percent of their field goals at Maine and a season-high 58.8 percent versus N.C. Central, which marks the fourth and fifth times this season Duke has hit over 50.0 percent from the field.
- Junior Jasmine Thomas had a career-high eight steals at Maine. Thomas has also totaled 22 assists the last three games.
- Duke has gone up against seven teams who were undefeated going into the contest with the Blue Devils this season -- Ohio State (8-0), James Madison (7-0), Stanford (7-0), Western Kentucky (3-0), Georgia Southern (1-0), Houston Baptist (0-0) and Texas A&M (0-0).
- Over her 18 years as a head coach, Joanne P. McCallie owns a record of 3-0 all-time against Temple. McCallie has won two of those contests at Duke and the other while at Michigan State with a 78-50 win in 2003.
- Coach P owns an all-time record of 14-6 against teams from the Atlantic 10 -- Charlotte (1-0), Dayton (0-1), George Washington (0-2), Massachusetts (2-1), Rhode Island (5-2), St. Bonaventure (3-0) and Temple (3-0).
- Junior Jasmine Thomas has hit 22 three-pointers in only 12 games this season. As a freshman, she hit 24 in 35 games and as a sophomore she hit 28 in 30 games.
- Duke has won 35 straight home games in the month of December. The last loss came on Dec. 20, 1997 against UCLA, 93-83.
- Duke has registered 34 wins out of its last 35 games at home against non-conference foes. Over the last eight years, the Blue Devils have posted a 61-4 overall record against non-conference opponents in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The losses came against Tennessee (2), Connecticut and South Carolina.
- Junior Krystal Thomas has moved into tied for eighth place on Duke's all-time blocked shots list with 96. She is 34 shots shy of seventh place all-time on the Blue Devil charts.
- In three years at Duke, Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie has notched four victories against top-five ranked teams -- #3/3 Ohio State in 2009-10, #3/4 Stanford in 2008-09, while knocking off #4/3 Rutgers and #5/4 Maryland in 2007-08.

What Happened Last Time We Met...
Chante Black scored 15 points and Shay Selby added a career-high 14 to lead No. 5 Duke to its 10th straight victory, 87-52 over Temple on Jan. 5, 2009.
Joy Cheek had 13 points and Jasmine Thomas added 11 for the Blue Devils (12-1), who led 47-22 at halftime.
The Blue Devils pressed for the entire game and racked up 18 steals, six of which came from senior Abby Waner. Carrem Gay had four takeaways and Cheek added three.
Shanea Cotton was the only Owl in double figures, scoring 18. Temple (8-5)committed 18 of their 29 turnovers in the first half.
Neither teams scored over the first 3½ minutes, but Duke answered Temple's opening basket with an 11-0 run.
The Owls cut the deficit to five points, but the Blue Devils responded with a 23-3 spurt to go up 36-11 with 6 minutes remaining in the first half. Temple turned over the ball on eight of nine possessions, including six straight, to ignite Duke's run.
